Abstract
The purposes of this study were to determine the relationships among irrational beliefs and mindfulness and secondary anger thoughts, and to investigate the mediating role of mindfulness on the relationship between irrational beliefs and secondary anger thoughts. In addition, we investigated the relative contributions of sub-factors of mindfulness to irrational beliefs and secondary anger thought. and to determine whether mindfulness uniquely contributed to secondary anger thought after controlling for irrational beliefs. We asked 299 college students to compete questionnaires including the Mindfulness Scale, General Attitude and Belief Scale-Korean version(GABS-K), and Secondary Anger Thoughts Scale. The results of this research can be summarized as follows. Firstly, the correlation analysis showed statistically significant negative correlations between mindfulness and irrational beliefs, and between mindfulness and secondary anger thoughts. Secondary, the examination of structural relation among the major variables showed that all the paths to secondary anger thoughts were significant. Also, mediating effect of mindfulness between irrational beliefs and secondary anger thoughts was significant. The third, simultaneous multiple regression analyses demonstrated that de-centered attention and non-judgmental acceptance exhibited a significantly negative contribute to secondary thoughts. The fourth, hierarchical multiple regression analyses revealed that mindfulness uniquely contributed to secondary thoughts after controlling for irrational beliefs. Finally, the limitations of this study, and further research suggestions were discussed, and significances for the study were suggested.
